Honoree
MR. TONY FADELL is founder and CEO of Nest – maker of the Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Protect smoke + CO alarm, and Nest Cam - and an SVP at Google, overseeing Project Aura (formerly Glass).
Prior to Nest, Tony served as senior vice president of Apple’s iPod division, reporting to Steve Jobs. He was responsible for creating the first 18 generations of the iPod digital music player and the first three generations of the iPhone. In 2001, after eight weeks of researching and designing the iPod product solution as a contractor, he was hired to create and lead the implementation team.
Before joining Apple, Tony was a co-founder, CTO and director of engineering of the Mobile Computing group at Philips Electronics. He architected the award-winning Velo and Nino PDAs, based on the Windows CE Palm PC platform, and later became vice president of business development for Philips U.S. Strategy and Ventures, managing its digital music strategy and investments.
Tony is currently an advisor to and investor in several Silicon Valley startups in the mobile-Internet and green-tech industries, helping them craft and implement their business, technical and product strategies.
In his 20-plus years of experience in the consumer electronics industry, Tony has authored more than 300 patents.
He graduated with a B.S. in computer engineering from the University of Michigan in 1991 and won the College of Engineering's alumnus of the year award in 2004. In 2013, he was named to CNN’s list of 10 Thinkers and in 2014, was included as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. He’s appeared on Vanity Fair’s annual New Establishment List since 2013.
Honoree
MS. PAULA FARIS officially joined ABC’s Emmy® Award-winning daytime talk show, “The View,” as a co-host on September 8, 2015. Faris is the co-anchor of “Good Morning America’s” weekend edition, and reports across ABC News broadcasts and digital platforms. She joined ABC News in January 2012 as co-anchor of ABC News’ “World News Now” and “America This Morning.”
While at ABC News, Faris has been among the first to report on the most recent developments of head trauma effects on both professional and amateur athletes. She has covered a wide range of subjects for ABC News from the New England Patriots “deflate-gate” scandal and the men’s and women’s World Cup from Brazil and Canada to the Philadelphia Amtrak crash. In 2015, she covered the red carpet and hosted “The Oscars Backstage” at the 87th Annual Academy Awards. In her regular reports for ABC’s “Real Money” series, she has helped American families save thousands of dollars.
In 2010, Faris earned an Emmy for WMAQ-TV's Chicago Auto Show coverage. She has also won several other Emmy's, including one for co-hosting a 2006 Winter Olympics special featuring Chicago-area Olympic hopefuls. In her near two decades in the business, she’s covered an array of events—from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics to the 2010 Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup run.

MRS. VICTORIA REGGIE KENNEDY is senior counsel in the corporate and securities practice group at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP. She advises clients on governmental and regulatory issues and assists them in devising strategies for the resolution of complex business problems.
She is President of the Board and co-founder of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, a non-partisan organization in Boston. The Mission of the Kennedy Institute to educate the public about the unique role of the United States Senate in our democracy, encourage participatory democracy, invigorate civil discourse and inspire the next generation of citizens and leaders to engage in the civic life of their communities.
Kennedy is a Trustee (Presidential Appointment) of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where she chairs its Education Committee and is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Leadership Roundtable on Church Management, a lay initiative to assist Catholic Church parishes, church organizations and religious orders promote excellence and best practices in management, finances and human resource development.
Kennedy is a Member of the Commission on Political Reform, a project of the Bi-Partisan Policy Center launched in March 2013 to investigate the causes and consequences of America’s partisan political divide and to advocate for specific reforms.
In addition to her law practice, board service and non-profit leadership roles, Kennedy has served in key strategic and political roles on issues ranging from health, education, economic opportunity and involvement in the political process. She has been a leading voice on the empowerment of women and girls in our society and is an advocate for expanding medical research and for access to health care to all Americans. She was actively involved in the passage of the Affordable Care Act of 2010 and stood at President Obama's side at the signing of the bill into law.
She has received numerous honors and awards: the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Award for Lifetime Achievement (2016); the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of America Award for Activism and Advocacy (2015); the Women's Guild of Cedars Sinai Hospital Woman of the 21st Century Award (2013); the Susan G. Komen Honoring the Promise Betty Ford Lifetime Achievement Award (2013); the national Mother's Day Council Outstanding Mother Award (2010); and many other community awards.
Kennedy has received honorary doctoral degrees from Boston University, Northeastern University, Montclair State University, University of Massachusetts Boston, Lesley University, Emmanuel College, Western New England University and Suffolk University Law School. She also has been honored by the University of Massachusetts Boston as a Distinguished Professor and Mentor.
Kennedy received a JD, summa cum laude, from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans and was elected to the Order of the Coif. She was a member of the Board of Editors and the Notes Editor of the Tulane Law Review. She earned a BA in English, magna cum laude, from Newcomb College at Tulane University and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
